WELL DONE LEXI AND WILLIAM WALLACE PDF Print E-mail

 LEXI

Lexi has done so well, she has won the National Heat Show sponsored by Butchers and The Sunday Express, from this event she is one of the finalists down south. We hope that our owners will vote for her which can be done on the RSPCA website in September this year. The web address is www.rspca.org.uk. We at the rescue are delighted, as on arrival at our kennels before we rehomed her she was so afraid of everyone. Her eyes told her story without having to guess. The four walls of her kennel acted like a safety net for her, not being brave enough to go out into her pen if anyone was in sight. She would sneak out when she thought it was safe, when her food was put in the outside pen, grabbing mouthfuls at a time. However with lots of TLC she started to overcome her fears. Lexi's lucky chance came in the form of Val and Bill Quigg who's love and care built Lexi's confidence and more importantly her trust up in the outside world. So what a wonderful achievement for Lexi and her family ( who also won the best veteran in the same show ). Please vote in September for the Greyhound as a breed and for Lexi's courage to overcome her fears.

WILLIAM WALLACE

In over 25 years rescuing greyhounds, William Wallace will always remain very special to us. He is an unbelievable dog showing courage bravery and such a strong will to live. His condition on arrival at the rescue was horrendous passing blood from every orifice on his body. He was skin and bone and virtually at deaths door. It was a six month battle to cure poor William, we later found out he had been overdosed with an illegal cattle wormer, he was lucky to survive, hence his name, William Wallace (Braveheart) William was eventually re-homed with Val, Bill and Lexi and at the same show as Lexi, William was highly commended and came home with his own rosette. He's turned out to be quite a character unbelievably intelligent and a gentleman through and through. Well done William the impact of your strength and pure determination to survive we will never forget.
