ARTHUR DALEYS STORY PDF Print E-mail

You won't know me, but i have been a resident with greyhound rescue for ten years, and goodness what changes i have seen. I arrived at the sanctuary at the age of four and i like to think i'm the streetwise guy!

One of my pals Donnie has been hear longer and is older than myself, but between you and me he's not much of an article writer!!

I am very special in everyway. Iv'e shared my kennel with many a beautiful girl, of course i've tried to be the ultimate gentleman and believe me sometimes iv'e found it difficult because i have always been a bit of a rogue according to my mum, Karen. Sometimes she says "you have blown it Daley" Now humans who say 'blown it' i don't understand, so obviuosly take no notice and go on with my life as normal.

In my younger days i'll admit i was the biggest thief going, toys, buckets, feed bowls, collars, all landed on my bed, and i didn't give anything back, they were all my treasures hence my name Arthur Daley.

Now a pensioner, forgive me if i repeat myself, i have been here for years. Iv'e moved with the rescue three times, from Selby North Yorkshire to Boundary Farm at Storwood, Yorks and now our final property Crimea Cottage, Boston. Iv'e done more miles than your average dog (thank goodness each time i got a lift)

This place has been my home and my family, iv'e never known anything else, a lot of my greyhound friends have gone to live with new families, especially my girlfriends i have shared my kennels with, of course i always knew another kennel mate would come along in a very short time. But hey i'm not moaning, i'm very happy here, we have always had meals on wheels twice daily, beds changes and made twice, laundry service and now heated kennels, so we are all warm and comfy. We always enjoy a good christmas dinner, just the same as humans stuffing the lot!

The only thing we have to suffer, is sometimes, the night entertainment when Mum and Dad decide to sing along to our radio, but we all arrange to pretend this is perfectly normal behaviour in humans and accept it gracefully.

Well i must not go on any more, must pretend to be asleep before the singing starts, goodbye and thanks for reading my story and caring for me and my pals.

Daley. xx
