DONNIE had wonderful kind eyes to match his wonderful kind nature 

We can't believe that within a very short space of time the rescue has lost two very dear pentioners. First of all Daley and now the sadness of Donnie. These two dogs have been part of our lives for many many years, never having the chance of a family home they became part of us. You will already have read about Daley's character and his life within the rescue kennels, well we would like to share Donnie with you.......

For those who have had the privilege of knowing Donnie i am sure they would agree he was a gentle giant. Everyone who met and got to know him fell in love with him. There was something very special in Donnie, his heart was as big as him, he was gentle, kind and very caring. Caring may seem a strange word to people who never knew him but it is the right word. As Daley has has done, Donnie has shared his life with many bitches within the kennels, he's been a gentleman with them all and as they have left for their new family homes he always had a sad look as each one went. Donnie loved them all, protected them and gave many of his girls confidence when needed.

I remember years ago, one bitch Blackie, who Donnie was with. We received confimation that Blackie was terminally ill, nothing could be done for her, only time would take its toll and before that a desicion had to be made. In my mind Donnie also knew that Blackie was ill and his protective gentleness became more noticeable, he was always by her side and stood over her in bed.

Of couse years have gone by for Donnie and his last girlfriend, Harriet was again taken care of by him right to the last. We can only be grateful that when the time comes for our animals, they can pass away with dignity and quietness as Donnie did in our arms.
