Georges story starts with a phone call from a lady, who had been watching a greyhound in a neighbouring premises from her works window. She had noticed that it had not moved much in a couple of days and was so upset and worried about it, she decided to go round to their premises on her lunch break. on entering the premises the owner walked out and asked her, her business. She asked about the greyhound and he replied that the dog was fine and he had taken it to the Vet. She explained to him that it had hardly moved and didn't believe it was fine, and she had been watching for days and would like to see it. He called the dog, and very slowly it came out, its leg twisted badly and wrapped in a dirty 'unprofessional' bandage wrapped round a toilet tube! The lady told the man that she wanted his dog ( she wanted him away from the situation) to which the man replied with " how much are you going to give for him"? she said "nothing". His reply was " I didn't wand him anyway - take him"! The lady tucked him up in the back of her car and took him to her local Vet, who was appalled at the state the dog was in. On the 9th of October George had to have his front leg amputated as it was so badly broken, it could not be saved. Kept in touch with the Vet over the next couple of days and on the 11th of October at 8pm he arrived at the rescue to recouperate. He greeted Karen by weeing on the kitchen floor, he then ate his tea and snuggled up in his duvet for a rest. Even though George had to have his leg amputated and and is having to deal with the loss of his leg, all the tubes and stitches, he is such a happy dog and nothing could be worse for him than the pain that he must have gone through with such an injury that was left for days by his previous owner. We also have to thank Jill who took George away from his owner and took him to the Vet, she saved his life and as he is only 3 years old he has a lot to look forward too. Once George has fully recouperated we will be looking for a new loving home for him.
News update:- George has made a full recovery, much quicker than anyone could imagine and is now ready to find that special home. If any one thinks that they would like to re-home George and give him the love he craves for so much , please contact the rescue. |
